Cost
Based on last year's numbers basketball fees are roughly $150.00/ athlete. Once teams are made and schedules, along with official fees are calculated a specific number will be determined.
Athletes will be charged according to the number of games their team plays, as well as tournaments they attend. Costs vary per team based on official fees, number of students per team and tournament costs. The school division will cover all registration, transportation, or accommodation costs for Provincials if travel requires it.
Coaches Expectations
Our varsity team is committed to putting the best teams on the court. Student athletes accept that playing time is decided by the coach for the team's benefit in circumstances that occur during play. W.C. Miller Collegiate participates in competitive leagues. As such, there will be few, if any instances where playing time for each player on the team will be equal. The amount of playing time may vary from game to game, or from week to week. Neither the player's grade nor prior years of playing experience with Miller teams, necessarily guarantee playing time.
It is WC Miller's policy to not discuss playing time with parents. Student-athletes are responsible to have informed conversations with their coach around playing time and ways to get better. Ultimately decisions regarding playing time shall be at the discretion of the coach.
Missed Class Time
Students are expected to communicate their sport related absences to each of their classroom teachers. They must make arrangements with each teacher regarding how they will make up missed classwork. Coaches or the Athletic Director will email teachers, the team list of what athletes to expect to be excused during their class.
